Uranium Industry participated in mission of NAC Kazatomprom to Mongolia

On February 21, PREVALENT SICAV Investment Fund and its initial investment company Uranium Industry a.s. (UI), took part in the business meeting between representatives of Mongolia and Kazakhstan`s state-owned nuclear energy company NAC «Kazatomprom» JSC.

On February 21, PREVALENT SICAV Investment Fund and its initial investment company Uranium Industry a.s. (UI), took part in the business meeting between representatives of Mongolia and Kazakhstan`s state-owned nuclear energy company NAC «Kazatomprom» JSC. The meeting had a significant interest for UI, as long as Uranium Industry is a working partner of NAC «Kazatomprom» (recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation) and has long-term experience on the uranium market in Mongolia .

During the visit, Chief Executive Officer of NAC «Kazatomprom» Askar Zhumagaliyev met with Chairman of the Parliament of Mongolia Miyeegombyn Enkhbold, Minister of Mining Mongolia Tsedev Dashdorj, and Secretary of the Nuclear Energy Commission of Mongolia Gun-Aajav Manlaijav and the Executive Director of the state-owned Mon-Atom LLC Dorjbal Dalaijargal.

The participants discussed the potential of cooperation between the two countries' nuclear industries. "Currently, Kazakhstan is ranked 2nd in the world for uranium reserves. Kazatomprom produces 21 percent of world's uranium, and is the leading producer and supplier of natural uranium in the world market, covering about 20 percent of the demand. We also plan to diversify our business in all stages of the pre-reaction nuclear fuel cycle", said Askar Zhumagaliyev. Sides voiced a number of areas of cooperation in nuclear industry that are of mutual interest, such as geological exploration, uranium mining/processing and the prospect of implementing joint projects in this sector.
